Personal experience taught me this. I was at Blockbuster or some other movie rental store, and I saw one movie and said, “This is SOO gay.” Turns out, the cashier was gay, and I hadn’t known I offended him. My sister had to tell me he was wearing a rainbow ring and that it should’ve been obvious because he didn’t seem too pleased with what I said. From then on, I started saying “lame” Loll.
