Hey Gang!
I know it seems like it’s been a while since I’ve written about knitting before last week, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t working on any projects. I know a lot of knitters who have multiple projects working at the same time, and I want to start sharing my work. I love looking at other people’s projects. The biggest thing about knitting that draws me is that it’s a very calming activity as long as the pattern isn’t too difficult, I can do it while I watch television.

My favorite thing about knitting projects has to be all the COLORS! I’m addicted to projects with lots of different color changes in them. The colors pop, the projects are soft, and I find myself drooling over projects on instagram for hours. I’m working on a post about my favorite knitting blogs and accounts to follow, that will be up soon so keep a look out for it.
I have three projects to show! I’ve really started to fall in love with making pillows, they’re super simple, and its the perfect way for me to test different types of stitches, I make it long, fold it over, stuff it and stitch it closed. It’s also a great way for me to work through my yarn as well! I was working on the last half of a ball of these particular colors, and thought they would look great together as a pillow.

I wanted to start being able to read and understand knitting patterns, so this hat/scarf combination, called a Scoodie was a perfect starting project. I realized later, that the hat would stretch so if I had stitched on the seam like the pattern said instead of doing the hat twice, it would fit a lot better, but it was my very first finished project, so you live and you learn I suppose. I got this pattern from Knitted Animal scarves, Mitts and Socks by Fiona Gable.

My last project was super simple. I got the pattern from Mollie Makes Knitting, which I picked up for my birthday from Half Price Books. I think I may have shorted myself in a couple of rows, because its thinner than the one in the book, but I’ve decided that I’m working on projects, and getting used to following the directions, its fine if they aren’t perfect, its all about getting techniques down.

Are you a crafter? What’s your hobby? Let’s talk about it on Twitter?!
