Hello There!
You are now reading a post from Galar’s newest Champion! I finally finished Pokémon Shield, last night! I have been steadily working on it since about a week after it came out. When it came out, I was having some car trouble, so it was a kind of escape for me from the struggles of reality.

So many things happened during the game, but I’m only going to talk about a few of them, and how it feels to have completed a pokemon game. I know I talk about Pokémon all the time. On here, my Youtube, my instagram, I even have Pokémon Tattoos, but even though Pokémon just celebreated 23 years, I have only finished two games, out of the entire series. Pokémon Sun, and Pokémon Shield.
I started the game with Scorbunny, because Duh! And he’s stayed with me pretty much through everything, I didn’t really Catch any dragon pokemon until I started battling Rihan, but once I did I was hooked. Now my team consists of mostly Dragon and Ghost. In other pokemon games, I was quite fond of grass types, and would keep several in rotation on my team.

I’m not sure if its the same for all the previous games, but I realized in this one, that you can beat the gym challenge, and still not complete the game. I thought I finished it, 3 days ago, until I realized I still hadn’t caught the legendary, and then silly me, I realized there was still some story left for me.

My Pokédex as of completing the story is 207 caught, 310 seen. Which isn’t bad if you take into the account of the awful catch system thats in this game. I don’t remember stressing out nearly as much in the games before sun and Shield, but in these in particular I’ve noticed it takes 5 – 8 ultra balls to catch something, which is in and of itself, ridiculous.
I was under the impression that these two games, were Nintendo and Game Freak’s way of introducing newbies to the series, aka making it easy, that catching ratio needs some serious work. I shouldn’t need to use 12 ultra balls for a wheezing, but only need one ultra ball for the legendary, this ration isn’t it chief.

Here are a few of my favorite pokemon so far: Applin, Froslass, Sinistea, Sylveon, Bellossom, Flygon and Lampent. Now that the game itself is finished, I’m mostly spending my time, catching pokemon I was too weak to do before, and trading/battling my sister.

I have a few favorite moments that I want to tell ya about! I think the most ridiculous thing that happened was fighting Shieldbert and Swordron. Not only their names, but also their motivations and their hairstyles. I felt pretty bad for Hop, He didn’t win a single battle against me the entire game. I wish Bede wasn’t rewarded for his rudeness. I really didn’t like him as a character, and thats probably the only character I didn’t like that wasn’t an actual villain.

I loved the ability to trade in the actual story of the game, and not just meeting up with other players online to do it, I was so excited about getting a togepi, I don’t believe I’d had one before. Just because I’m a huge Pokémon fan, doesn’t mean I can’t see their flaws. I was absolutely irate about the amount of pokemon were in the game, and the lack of my favorites. I really hope now that the switch is the main console that they’ll create some way of dropping in all the other pokemon. There’s way too many around to only put half in a game.

I wasn’t so upset about it before with Pokemon Home, available, until I realized that even if the pokemon are in the home, you won’t be able to move the pokemon into shield and sword if they don’t exist there. With sun and moon, there were many legendaries released through mystery gift that I can’t even use right now, that is super annoying. With the DLC’s on their way, hopefully they’ll fix a couple of things.
