Series #73: Re-Discovering Blood Ties

Hey Gang!

Let’s take a trip down memory lane. Anyone remember that time between 2000 and now when bookshelves and impressionable minds were full of paranormal romances, and moonlighting detective stories with hints of erotica? Yeah, let’s be honest we all remember that.

The likes of Tanya Huff, Laurel K. Hamilton and more, were definitely on my bookshelves. I’m currently working through the Anita Blake Series right now, but that just kind of ties into my post.

When I first found Blood Ties, I was enthralled! A bad ass female private investigator, solving murder mysteries, with a hot vampire, and all of the mysteries had a supernatural tilt? What more could a 16 year old want? It ran late on Lifetime, and I remember hitting record to watch a few episodes at a time, but I never got around to finishing the series.

Thank to On Demand on Pluto TV, I can watch the entire series at my liesure, and I thought it would be fun to talk about it on the blog. It’s been a while since I’ve talked about mysteries on the blog, especially supernatural ones so it will be fun to unpack together.

Meet Vicki Nelson, previous Homicide detective, turned private investigator, gets pulled into a case of murder, that has just few too many things that can’t be explained, enter hot vampire turned Graphic Novelist, Henry Fitzroy, to help navigate her through the world of the supernatural. Other than the first two episodes, each episode explores a new supernatural creature, and does a decently adequate job of doing so.

I’ll be exploring my thoughts through my podcast, Teatime, so make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss out! I’ve been thinking on and off about different methods of media for my content, and I’m so excited to start exploring podcasting.

Have you watched Blood Ties before? lets talk about it on Twitter!
