June Activities

Hello Gang,

Can you even believe that its the 2nd week of July? I know that 2020 hasn’t slowed down a bit with the detrimental things its been sending our way, but I definitely didn’t think that the time would pass so quickly. This year is going by in the blink of an eye, I honestly can’t even remember anything from January, and who knows what 2020 has up its sleeves for the closing 5 months? I honestly don’t think anyone is ready for that.

All that to say, I know I’ve been gone for a bit, but life goes on, and I have things to say, so I decided to come back and continue getting on someone’s nerves. Let’s go over the fun times I had in the month of June. I’m sure someone is waiting on a what I read in May, please stop holding your breath, you’re turning blue, and I’m definitely not close enough to resuscitate you, 6ft ya know.

I didn’t read anything in May except His Alone by Alexa Riley. I didn’t bother to review it, it was perverted, in both smut and also the way he watched her from before legal to now, really left a bad taste in my mouth and honestly, I don’t believe I finished it. If stalker to love is your thing, have at it, but it definitely isn’t mine.

In June, I discovered The Legally Blonde Musical Soundtrack, and it has been on repeat ever since. I even sang, So Much Better at my training graduations talent show. I fell in love with the films when I saw it, but there is just something about seeing it on stage. I’ve always had a love for Musicals and theater, and when they combine there is just something so special about it. So much better is my favorite song from the show, and thanks to a kind fellow on Youtube, you can watch the entire show professionally shot by MTV. It’s glorious, I highly recommend.

I finally convinced my best friend, Watson, to help me do something wild to my hair. I’ve been natural for the past two years, and I was kind of at my wits end with it, but honestly I’m really growing to love it. So because I can’t ever just leave well enough alone, She helped me shave one side into an undercut, which I’ve never done before, but have been contemplating since Emo was a thing, and then right after helped me bleach it to perfection and dye it purple. At the moment, it definitely needs a touch up and I’m contemplating changing the color, but I have a cosplay in mind for July, so that has to be done first before I do anything else.

Speaking of my lovely friend Watson, I received my very first styling credit! She teamed up with the lovely photographer, Aly Isabelle, for a fairy inspired look that was quite honestly, golden. I helped style the entire set, helping to choose accessories, and wardrobe. Which was honestly super exciting and incredibly terrifying as well. I photograph women of all shapes and sizes, in my photography studio but I hardly ever have any say in the styling or what they wear.

When I photograph women, I want them to show up in whatever makes them feel good, because when I photograph I want to capture the spark that is unique to them. So I give a general idea, and theme, provide the location and we go from there. So deciding what would be an outfit that would flatter Watson as a model, and also work with Aly’s idea of a shoot was a wonderful challenge that I am so excited I was able to complete.

I could definitely see myself having more of a style role in the future. It gave me a bit of the high I used to have, when I wanted to be a fashion designer all those years ago. Nostalgia is really something else.

I added another tattoo to my canvas between May and June, which is on my elbow area. I finally was able to pay homage to my favorite childhood story, Bunnicula. I wont go too much into it, for I have an entire blog post about why I love Bunnicula, and how I’ll pass it down to the next generation, whether I have children or not. My Bunnicula definitely looks a bit different from other renditions, but I’m a 28 year old woman, everything can’t be a cartoon. So I went into my shop, and sat down with my artist with a general idea in mind, and he helped make it a reality.

A rabbit skull, that still has furry ears, which I needed! I was going to have like ghost vegetables laying around, but I decided to forgo that idea instead for a banner quote, because I just don’t have enough words on my body already (sarcasm) and decided to wrap the banner across his eyes, ala lady Justice. The quote I chose is one my favorites, “Today Vegetables, Tomorrow The World!” I am absolutely in love with it.

I was honestly too depressed about the rise of systemic racism, police brutality and stupid shit coming from the White House, to actually focus on pride this year, like I normally would, and since we weren’t really allowed to go anywhere thanks to Ms. Rona, I didn’t march either. Just remember that this blog is ran by a fiercely proud bisexual woman, and sexual orientation matters. It’s fluid, could change, and only really affects the humans going through it, so if you think you have something negative to say about it, don’t.

HAPPY PRIDE!!
