A run in with the barber

Hey There!

It’s been a while! I started my new job during this pandemic, and feel so thankful for the opportunity, but it has definitely taken up a good portion of my day to day schedule, which I would normally use to create.

I’ve always been a fan of “wild” hair styles, if you’re new welcome to the circus, if you’ve been around for a while, you’ll know exactly what I mean. I’ve always admired women with undercuts, or shaved heads. I always thought it was such a strong move, with such energy behind their motivations. It always reminded me of a strong female warrior, Which is how I often see myself, even though you can be soft and have a shaved head as well.

So I finally decided that since I didn’t have to worry about societal norms at my new position, I was finally going to go through with an undercut. I didn’t want to do the back of my hair, as its one of the fastest growing parts of my head. So I decided to go with my right side, as the hair there is generally the shortest. My hair has grown in unevenly, for most of my life, which drives me nuts, so what better way for it to fix itself then to start from the beginning?

So I grabbed my mask and headed out into the “new wilderness” and purchased some clippers, the very first time I’ve ever done that. I went with the safest bet, and picked up a pair of clippers, that come with a 14 piece set. With the help of my trusty partner in Crime, Sheneal, I started my journey!

I wanted to start with a clean slate, so we bleached my hair, almost got rid of all the magenta from before, using Tintation magic in Pale Pink, I wanted a bubblegum pink look, but of course that didn’t work the way I wanted, and I ended up with a light Strawberry blonde, which is easy to dye over, so I left it as is, shaved the side and then twisted the rest of my hair up.

I’ve had it for about a week now, and I’m in love. I’ve worn twisted and twist out styles, and even double space buns, and I am loving it! Since I bleached it, I’ve been giving it some breathing room before I attempt to dye it again.

Have you done anything crazy with your hair because of the pandemic and quarantine?

Tell me about it below! I’d love to see it!

Until Next Time,

Moriartie
