Cinema #51: Dead Body

Hey Gang!

Welcome back to yet another blog post about movies, I fear my blog may just becoming a critique space for films! Today I want to talk about A horror film I watched last night, Dead Body! I found it on Amazon Prime, and was instantly intrigued.

A group of high school friends gather together for a party at a cabin in the woods to celebrate graduation, and are bored until they decide to play a parlor game called Dead Body.

If you haven’t played before, here are the rules. You start with everyone in the same room and someone turns out the lights, during that time, everyone hides, after a minute, the lights come back on, and someone goes around and “kills” someone, if you find someone killed you have to yell Dead Body and then guess who did it. If you guess wrong then you are out, and the game continues.

Unfortunately for the cast of characters, someone decided to take this game incredibly serious, and people start dropping like flies. Is the killer someone in the house? Or is it someone else in the woods, who will die next and who will be the final girl?

I ABSOLUTELY loved this film. I highly recommend it. I didn’t recognize any of the actors, so its more than likely an indie film, but the story was chef’s kiss, and even though I was pretty sure I knew exactly what had happened, and who was the murderer but due to twists and turns that occurred, I actually started to doubt my detectional prowess.

Check out this film if you’re looking for a good old fashioned whodunnit with lots of blood, and slight gore. Released in 2017, I was quite skeptical, as I’m not a fan of recent horror films, but Dead Body really surprised me. You can tell it was written for fans of the genre by fans of the genre, because the references are just amazing!

Have you seen Dead Body? Let’s talk about it on Twitter.
