Hey Gang!
I give up, this is just a film blog with posts about other things occasionally now. *Shrug* Today I want to talk about Blow Out! A John Travolta film from the 80’s, taking place in New York. I came across it on Amazon Prime, and they have really been bringing the heat lately.

The film begins with John Travolta, playing a sound man named Terry, who filmed sounds for “bad” horror films. Terry finds himself growing tired of his humdrum life, when he is given the mission of finding and recording new wind sounds for their new horror film.
While out on the bridge listening to trees rustling hither and fro, he captures something completely different, a loud bang, that draws his attention to a now out of control car careening down the street and through the bridge into the river.

Concerned for the people who may still be alive in the car, he leaves his recording equipment on the bridge and dives into the water. He sees a man, who is definitely dead, and a woman who is definitely alive. With the help of a handy rock at the end of the river, he breaks the window and pulls her body from the car.
He takes her to the hospital, and then there’s a huge frenzy, as it is revealed that the man in the car is the latest political candidate. Now Terry is pretty sure that the sound he heard was a gunshot meaning that someone shot out the tires, but no one wants to believe him.

Now its up to him to keep himself and Sally safe and figure out if the candidate actually was assassinated and to find out who did it before they come after them.
I absolutely enjoyed this film and would highly recommend it! The paranoia of Terry is palpable, and you almost do yourself a disservice by thinking that he might just be crazy. There are multiple layers to this mystery and you will be pleased by the ending.
Have you seen Blowout? Let’s talk about it on Twitter!
Until Next TIme
