Series #74 :Tv Show’s I’m currently watching

Hey Gang!

One thing the pandemic brought us was access and time to catch up on a lot of television. I hadn’t honestly been using it because I had told myself I would use it to read more, but now that its a new year, I thought maybe I would catch up on the shows that I was missing out on last year.

Boy Wonder and I finally decided to see what all the hubs looked was about for Stranger Things. We started season one the night before, and made it to episode 7. I wish the story would kind of speed up since I know the gist of what its based off of, but its still pretty enjoyable.

I’ve started Miss America, Which is really interesting to me, it covers a part of history that schools, and my university skipped over completely, the attempt to ratify the ERA. I’d had the gist of what the ERA was and why it was important, and how it was part of the feminist movement, but I’d literally never heard of most of the characters and working parts to this story. My first time even hearing Gloria Steinem name was in Legally Blonde, I feel like my school defeinitely let me down there. I knew who Shirley Chisholm was obviously, but I didn’t know she was part of the feminist movement, just that she was the first black woman to run for president. I have to watch this show in parts, because its really rough to watch a show about feminism and intersectionality and racism all at once. It hurts in different way but they all attack the same thing, me.

Hulu finally added Criminal Minds last seasons, so I started working on that. I’m so glad that Scratch is done with, I was getting so tired of him. I started a rewatch, and got to season 4 before they released the new episodes, and now I’m bouncing back and forth, but its just honestly making me miss the original crew. I need Morgan to come back, either with a crossover or something, these little pop ups are killing my heart.

I started the first season of L.A.’s Finest and love it! It’s a Bad Boys Spinnoff following Marcus’ little sister, Syd, and her partner McKenna, played by original Gabriella Union and Jessica Alba. I was already in love because A black and Latina female led cop show? But when I realized it actually was supposed to follow the movies, I was hooked, I’m 3 episodes in and am just in love with the whole affair. I love how the women play off of each other despite what they do and don’t agree with.

I also started two Korean Dramas. I generally only watch mystery or law-based ones, because I find the romance ones a bit annoying. They and television shows similar to them tend to have a LOT of hazing in them, and it’s something I refuse to watch or partake in, one of the reasons I never finished Boys over Flowers. The first one I started was Bad Guys, which is about an elite program of intelligent criminals who help a disgraced Police Luitenant and his Sargent, hunt and solve serial killer mysteries. The Criminals are more interesting the rest of the population, and I honestly feel pretty bad for them. I like them all, but I’m quite partial to Jenny Tae-soo, I’m currently on episode 7.

The second one is The Good Detective, which is a hard look on corruption within the Police force and Prosecutions in Korea, as a woman is murdered by an influential man, with powerful ties, and a father is railroaded into being killed for it. This one is definitely a tear jerker, It’s been a while since I have been so emotionally invested in a television show, I think the last one that I can honestly think of is Pretty Little Liars, I was so invested in making sure that the girls made it out safely. It’s a lot of people doing things they know is wrong and getting away with it because they have money, so i was pretty angry about a lot of things that were happening, and I’m hoping that it will even out soon and people will get their comeuppance.

What have you been watching lately?!

Until next Time,
