Hey Gang!

If you’ve been hanging out with us lately you’ll know that Boy Wonder and I have been in talks to purchase a home! My goal for 2020 was to pay off my loans, and get a home, I got my loans taken care of, which by the way means I’m completely debt free, I honestly can’t believe it myself. I owed 18k from a stint at a university for a degree they made me lose interest in and didn’t finish. So to finally be debt free feels amazing!

Boy Wonder and I have been wanting to get a house for the last 3 years or so but we started looking heavily about August of 2020. We got our per approval in October and we were off! When we started our preapproval we’d already had a house in mind, but that one didn’t work out, and then we had another one and someone swooped it out from under us, so we started looking outside of the city, because I still have that ridiculous dream of owning a cabin-esque/gothic home to haunt with lots of acreage and very little human neighbors.

We successfully purchased a home on the 10th of February and we’ll be taking you on the journey as we turn into our forever home. I honestly still can’t believe that we did it, and I probably won’t until we’re completely moved in and have returned the keys on the house we were renting but it’s happened none the less.
We’re in the midst of filming an empty home tour while we get moved in and I can’t wait to show it to ya! Boy wonder and I are going to be starting a youtube channel once settled in, called Nerdette + Boy Wonder, where we’ll be talking about the house, cooking and other nerdy things we enjoy.

Now let me tell you about the house! It’s 100 years old, 3 floors in an older neighborhood. It’s got 4 bedrooms, 1+1/2 bathrooms, a backyard and 3 nonfunctional fireplaces. We are a bit sad that the fireplaces don’t work but they all have maters that can be decorated and we can always put in an electric fireplace if we ever get the need. The thing that drew me to the house the most was the space! The house we were renting is 800 soft, I felt like I was suffocating, the home we purchased has 2871 sq ft, so needless to say, I won’t be worrying about space!
