Welcome back!
Hope you’re having a good day! I missed the date of release for I am Made of Death by Kelly Andrews, but I’m here to tell you not to miss this novel! This was the first arc I read this year and it was immaculate. I was drawn in by Andrew’s perfect marketing. I’m nothing if not a giant fan of bubblegum horror and the ability to show that theres a darkside to everything even the ability to be coquette. With her movie comparison of Heathers, and trying to cut out the parts of you, you aren’t a fan of, let’s just say it resonated in a way I knew I had to read.

I am Made of Death Did NOT disappoint. I absolutely devoured this novel, it didn’t even take me three days to read it. I was obsessed with Vivienne and Thomas, and this is the first book in a long time where I immediately recall the name of the FMC without having to relook up the book, that alone should be the highest praise.
In I am Made of Death, Thomas a hotheaded college student is hired as an interpreter for a voluntarily mute ballerina named Vivienne. Her family has hired him to act as a bodyguard as well, she’s been “seen” with some unsavory types. When he finally meets Vivienne she isn’t what he expected. Touted as a YA Dark Romance, A sub-genre that I didn’t even realize was possible, Death delivers in the best possible way.

The romantic plot blooms with epic and squee worthy feet kicking, and a healthy dose of eye covering for the horror scenes. It wasn’t graphic, but it was enough to take pause. The Push and Pull was the best part of the romance in my opinion and I absolutely loved it.
When bodies begin piling up, Thomas realizes not only is there more to Vivienne than meets the eye, but he finds himself in the middle of a string of murders that don’t make sense.
I’m giving it 🥕🥕🥕🥕.75 and recommending it to everyone. If #bubblegumhorror sounds up your alley this is for you! I just want to thank Scholastic Press for my arc of I Am Made Of Death on Netgalley, and while I did receive this book for free every blog post and book review is my full opinion. You will never have to worry about me pretending to like a book, life is too short for that.

I Am Made Of Death by Kelly Andrews released March 4th, 2025, go read it! When you’re done come back and comment what you thought? I love talking about books with people but no spoilers!
Until next Time,
Gabs
