The Other day, I watched the Nintendo Direct and I’m so excited about the titles coming out. When I got the notification, I was hoping for it to be a bit more Pokemon Centered, since Z-A is due to release towards the end of the year. Then while I plotted where I wanted to take this post they released the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct and I have to tell you I’m obsessed.
Here are a few of the games I’m most looking forward too in ’25. I have a Playstation 5 but I honestly spend most of my gaming time on my switch. I love the portability of it and its almost always on my person.
One of the biggest ones is Cosmic Invasion. I spent a good portion of my childhood playing X-men arcade cabinet, Marvel Vs. Capcom and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. I even played competitively in college for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, and tried to relive some of my former glory in 2023 when I went to Vegas for EVO. Side Scrolling, great art AND favorite marvel characters? Count me in!
Game Chat sounds amazing, as well. I love playing games with my friends and family and hate having to do it through facetime. I love being able to see things as they see them and I’m so looking forward to that. Also a huge fan of being able to share games again. I was a huge fan of that when I was actively playing my 3DSXL.
That little snippet of Professor Layton and the Steam Engine was everything. I’ve been waiting for another Professor Layton game for a long time. I enjoyed Lady Layton, but it was missing that original flair. I’m hoping that this will mean they will also port the rest of the games to the Switch. I have the entire 3DS collection, but trying to go back to that screen after being on the Switch is ludicrous.
One of the things I’m super excited about is the fact that all of the Switch 2 games have 2025 release dates, so the system is releasing with a large variety of games to go with it, instead of when the PS5 came out and I couldn’t really find anything I was itching to play. Raidou Remastered, Shadow Labrynth, Disney Villains Cafe, Witchbrook, Rift of the Necrodancer and more all are slated to come out this year.
Let’s talk about the cool things being added to the Swtich 2. I love the game chat ease of having a button for it, instead of having to look for it in a menu. Locally game share is lovely and I can’t wait to share tht with my family. I also like the game chat is available in handheld mode because I hardly ever connect my switch to my tv unless I’m streaming or the family is over. I’m glad I won’t be forced to connect just to enjoy that.
Also kind of interested in the camera aspect. I had all the accessories for the PS3 and this was giving heavy nostalgia. Switch 2 will have a screen size of 7.9 inches. I know its not a huge screen, but .9 can mean a world of difference. When I upgraded my kindle, that .8 inches was like 4 extra paragraphs per swipe. 🤷🏾♀️ While I think the mouse use can be interesting it doesn’t really look user friendly. When will you actually use that?
