My First Book Box

Hello There!

Welcome back, it’s definitely been a little bit but I haven’t been slacking behind the scenes! I’ve been contemplating new avenues for creating bookish content that I myself would enjoy instead of just screaming out into the either ya know? But enough about that, lets get to the good stuff! Unboxings!

I ordered my first book box back in March. It was an Owlcrate Dark Academia Box and I ordered it because I had JUST finished reading the arc of Boys With Sharp Teeth by Jenni Howell and it was featured in the box along with a bunch of stuff from books I’d read and loved or books I had been interested in reading but hadn’t gotten around to yet.

Towards the end of May the box finally arrived on my doorstep. I do a FULL unboxing on my vlog, but you’ll get the goods here. When I went outside to get my box it had already been opened. I wasn’t sure if that was done by someone in my neighborhood that thought they were going to steal something good and then left it when they realized it was books, or if it was just not taped up well and slowly came undone over time on its journey to me. I’m willing to give OwlCrate the benefit of the doubt.

This Dark Academia Box includes: A reversable cover, Ribbon bookmark, Exclusive illustrations, a letter and a signature, exclusive version on Boys With Sharp Teeth by Jenni Howell. A leather locking journal inspired by Babel by R.F. Kuang. A pen and pen sleeve inspired by the Scholomance series by Naomi Novak. An If we Were villains by M.L. Rio inspired stacking teapot set. A folding hand mirror inspired by The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. A container of tea inspired by the Dead Poets Society and a tote bag inspired by The Secret History by D**na T**t.

I don’t even drink tea, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to get the absolutely gorgeous teapot inspired by one of my favorite novels of all time. I won’t carry the Tote bag due to T**t’s racism, but I do like the design. I love that the journal is a sleeve, so I can put it on any book I like. While I wasn’t sure what the Scholomance was when I ordered the box, I later realized I own the first book, A Deadly Education. (Which only means I need to read more books I own 😅).

It was just so neat to be surrounded by items that were so inspired by Dark Academia, which is one of my favorite Genres? Subtropes? to read about, and this book really did not let me down. This special edition includes art and illustrations, so I would like to go back and read it and add in all of my annotations from my e-arc!

I could definitely see myself becoming a bookish box girlie but I will definitely need to budget that because it is not a budget friendly activity!

Do you have any book box subscriptions? If so which ones are your favorites?

Until Next Time,

Gabs
