July Hopefuls

Welcome to July!

We’ve survived another month ya’ll! Give yourselves a pat on the back! July is my birthday month, so I kind of want to take it a bit easy this month. July is a bit packed, Boy Wonder’s Niece and Nephew are in town, so we’ll be running around doing activities with them, Sarah and I scored spots to see Holly Jackson talk about her latest novel and of course whatever we do for my birthday. So I won’t have a huge hopeful list.

Very Dangerous Things by Lauren Muñoz: I read her debut Suddenly A Murder and was obsessed! So when I saw her next one was a Dark Academia Thriller about a Yearly Mystery Game that becomes real, I was all about it! This is an E-Arc thanks to G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers for my copy, and it will be released on the 29th.

The Myth Maker by Alie Dumas-Heidt: A serial Killer is running around Washington, posing their victims as goddesses from Greek mythology! I’m all over it! I’ve actually started this as of writing, I’m 25% in and definitely intrigued! This is an E-Arc thanks to Penguin Random House for my copy, and will be released on the 8th.

Night Watcher by Daphne Woolsoncroft: A girl escapes a serial killer when she’s younger and now it seems like he’s beginning again! What else do I need? I love cold cases, cat-and-mouse games, and trying to figure out if it’s the original or a copycat; this is right up my alley! This is an E-Arc, thanks to Grand Central Publishing for my copy, and will be released on the 8th.

Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson: One of my most anticipated reads of the year! I received the E-Arc and almost cried. However, Ms. Jackson herself will be near for a book release, Sara and I have tickets for. I promised Sara we would buddy read it together, so I haven’t touched it. We’ll start reading it the night of the book signing. Essentially, a woman has to solve her own murder? I think she only has a week to do it, but Jackson hasn’t steered me wrong NOT ONCE in 5 novels so I think I’ll be good! I’m so excited about the opportunity to get my books signed!

Dying to Meet You by Kate Klise: This is the start of a middle-grade series called 43 Old Cemetery Road. I discovered it last night while I was looking for something else, and it sounded like a fun, spooky read and another series from my childhood that I could cross off, without actually having heard of it! Seems right up my alley! I put the entire series on hold at my local library, and they came in, and I want to grab them before the library closes for the 4th. So I’ll have a giant empty weekend to read as much as I can.

I’m also hoping to slide in a mini Phantom Readathon! I found three books up my alley that all have Phantom in the title.

Phantom by H.D. Carlton: My first Carlton novel, it’s a dark romance in a 1940’s home with a mobster vibe. I like that its not a full mafia romance, because I’m not a fan of that but so far I am enjoying my time. I’m currently 22% in.

Phantom by Greer Rivers: A Dark Romantic retelling of The Phantom Of The Opera. The Phantom has his sights set on Scarlett, BUT a past enemy of the Phantom also has a her in his sights!

Phantom Pond by Juneau Black: A novella in the Shady Hollow mystery series. I own the first one but never managed to read it, so I thought this would be a good way to dip a toe into the series.

Do you have any books you’re planning to read in July? Leave ’em down below! I love getting book recommendations.

Until Next Time,

Gabs
