October Hopefuls

Hello!

Welcome back! Can you believe that October is upon us?! I’m so excited to be surrounded by others celebrating the spooky season. October and the spooky season are probably my favorite times of the year especially when it comes to bookish activities.

On the 17th of October is the 5th anniversary of starting my bookstagram! Which is soo wild to me, time passes so quickly, and I’m always so surprised when it comes swinging back around so soon!

Quite a few arcs are being released this month, so those plus the novels I’ve been putting to the side for the perfect scary atmosphere, so the list this month is pretty hefty. I’m hoping for the perfect vibes this month so I’m able to get through a. decent amount.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley: A buddy read I’ve already started with a new friend! We’re three chapters in. A classic and the horror staple will be perfect timing.

The Resurrectionist by Kathleen Allen: 336 Pages. A Young Victorian woman follows her father’s journal, in hopes to complete the masterpiece he’d spent his life working on, only to realize that its main directive is bringing dead souls back to the living. (Arc)

The Game is Murder by Hazel Ward: 464 Pages. You’re the detective in 1970’s london solving a murder case at a Murder Mystery Party. I’m looking forward to stretching my brain cells with all the interactive mysteries that are on the list.

Katabasis by R. F. Kuang: 559 Pages. Academic rivals go to hell to save their professor. I have two copies of this novel, one was a pre-order, and one came from the UK because I couldn’t decide which design I liked more. Needless to say, I’m ecstatic to start this!

The Dark Cove Theater Society by Sierra Marilyn Riley: 280 Pages. After falling victim to Stage Fright, Violet is determined to keep her head down and graduate. This is made infinitely more difficult when she is cast as the lead in the Halloween Play and her ex-crush and academic rival as her love interest. (Arc)

Foresyth Conservatory by A.L. Sterling: 380 Pages. I was chosen to be part of the arc review team by Sterling! This Dark Academia Murder Mystery follows a Tarot Card reader down on her luck who is suddenly presented with an amazing opportunity. Pretend to be a student at this magic academy, report to the principal what they find and solve the mystery of the death of a student from the year prior, all while undercover. (Arc)

Final Cut by Olivia Worley: 352 Pages. Billed as Scream meets The Reappearance of Rachel Price, the set of a low-budget horror film becomes real life when cast and crew begin disappearing. Films and theaters are one of my utmost favorite microtropes in horror and mystery novels. (Arc)

Hazelthorn by C.G. Drews: 368 Pages. After becoming obsessed with Don’t Let The Forest In, I knew I was going to read anything else that author released. So not only do I have an arc for Hazelthorn, but I also have the arc for their upcoming Adult Mystery; You Did Nothing Wrong. (Arc)

The Hex Girls: A Rogue Thorn by Lily Meade: 256 pages. This is a buddy read with my bestie, Sarah! A mystery centering the Hex Girls? What else could a scooby Doo fan need?

If Looks Could Kill By Julie Berry: 448 Pages. Jack The Ripper Versus Medusa. What else could you possibly need?

All The Devils by Catelyn Wilson: 384 Pages. Just as Andy is getting used to the hard truth, her sister Violet is dead and not coming back, and something is revealed that causes her to go looking for the truth. Dark Academia, Fantasy, and a murder mystery? Again, I must ask, what else could I need?

You Are The Detective: The Creeping Hand Mystery by Maureen Johnson and Jay Cooper: 128 Pages. An interactive mystery!! After reading You’ve Been Summoned, I’ve been trying to relive that high ever sense!

Make Me A Monster by Kaylynn Byron: 320 Pages I’ve been wanting to read this since she first posted about it, and now that it’s in my hands??! I absolutely can’t wait! Black girl, Sapphic, Mortician, and now the dead won’t stay dead?! PLEASE!!!! This will probably be the first thing I read, just a heads up!

Do you have your October TBR set? Leave a comment below on what you’re reading this month!

Until next Time,

Gabs
