Had so much fun with this horror graphic novel from Sherwood and Pocetta! Such a spooky time perfect for valoween! Two twins that despise each other are forced on a vacation with their parents. Desperate for a reprieve from her sister’s bullying Chloe winds up making a wish at a local superstition without knowing the full story and when people begin going missing they’ll have to figure out how to stop it before it gets them too! The art was so good , gave me #peachgirl vibes and they did not shy from the gore it was a good time! Releasing on the 24th of February you’ll have a blast too! I gave it 🥕🥕🥕🥕.75 and can’t wait to explore more of their work! #comics #comicreview #horrorcomics Finished Racer X vol. 1 too quickly it seems because now I’m chomping at the bit for more and have resorted to watching speed racer again for the umpteenth time to satiate my hunger. The many questions about racer x have been answered in a satisfying way and I can’t wait to see what’s next. I would be remiss if I did not mention the lack of strong women characters in this there are literally only two women mentioned and none have any actual explored depth to them. Hopefully that comes in the next volume. I gave it 🥕🥕🥕🥕.5 and I’m in love with the character design! #comics #madcavestudios #arccomics I had such a blast with #sewmuchtrouble by John Patrick Green the next installment in the agents of suit spinoff series. I’m so proud to not only have been chosen for this arc but ALSO investigators 9! Thank be been a fan since the beginning and I love being chosen for the arcs. So proud of myself 😱 we’re learning more about Sven in this graphic novel. A shape shifting recipe thief is on the loose and now they must participate in the reality show, so you think you can sew to find them before they fulfill a wild revenge plot. So now you know where to get your Recs from! #bunniescorner #bookreview #aecreviewer Got annoyed with people needing Black book recs. So here ya go! Here's my entire Black book collection. Either author, or main character is Black. Lots of genre, even though I mostly read mystery and Thriller. Do the research, uplift Black Authors and Black Content Creators, especially in the BOOKISH community! My first own voices arc for the year! Oxford Blood follows a mixed Black girl named Eva who is on the interview track for the university of her dreams but when bodies begin showing up it may not only be a competition who survives the vetting process but also for the rest of their lives. Dark academia and mystery are literally the only buzzwords I really need. I enjoyed my time reading this and gave it 🥕🥕🥕.75 and I look forward to reading more from this author. I do have to say that in my personal opinion the naivety that our fmc had was annoying to me. And indicative of the identity politics that plague conversation for progress in Black communities. Instantly trusting a white woman detective over her Black Detective Father was a red flag for me and there were several times where white guilt apologist talking points were prevalent. *sigh* the mystery was decently plotted tho so I’m looking forward to wmore work from this author and their growth. #arcreview #bookreviewer #bookishbabe The first finished arc of the year! While I I enjoyed the couple in this novel that was about it. The pacing was so weird. It was so odd. Only 331 pages and it was such a meandering read, I was literally just along for the ride. Anytime something happened outside of the couple I’d be like okay tell me more about that and then we’d just never go back there again. I felt like nothing outside of the couple was inconsequential. I gave it 🥕🥕🥕.5 and I’d like to read her other work. #arcreview #bookishgirlie #romance I had an absolute blast with Steam by Shaenon K. Garrett. I received this arc from Simon and Schuster on NetGalley. Released on February 3rd, this graphic novel is bright, sweet and hopeful! I shed a tear! Book 2 of 2026! Gave bring down the house by Mariko Tamaki 4 carrots. Essentially an origin story for Zatanna, I loved the character design and their introductions. As a child and now Zatanna has always been my favorite and realized that she never really got her due. I love this resurgence of her and her upcoming solo series makes me so so excited! Zatanna does tricks not magic, it’s dangerous and she wants no parts. However no one else seems to care about that and when she realizes that people are after the “magic” she doesn’t do she’ll have to reach inside herself to fix it or be destroyed. Please Clap for me, I've been working on #clowninacornfield for like 2.5 weeks and I have finally finished it! When the rumors went around that they were making a movie, I started reading it. Got 30% in and something distracted me and I never finished it, then @_itzbriannaa borrowed it and I promptly forgot about it. When it was returned there was about 3ish months before the movie came out and still I did NOT manage to get to it. Now, Months after seeing the film I can say its completed and I have thoughts. First #decemberscramble book is complete!!! #aliasemma by Ava Glass was so much fun. It’s been a while since I’ve read a spy mystery. A Russian Born British spy is recruited to get the son of a defected Russian Scientist to safety. No trail and no cameras, in the lens circus that is London that’s so much more difficult then you think it is. Throw in highly trained assassins on their tail and very little concern about casualties it makes for an amazingly quick paced mystery that I ate up In literally two days! The first photos are the full list and the last few are the books I’ve already started and where I am in them. Almost half have some progress, feel like that’s a pretty good start! I redid my alcove, so thought it was a good place to take the photos. I am really behind on these wrap up book posts! I can't believe I never talked about the Naturals anywhere! This book started my fascination for Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I have the entirety of this series, a beautiful edition of #inheritancegames Which was book 100 this year AND her #rulingclassduology! I read #thenaturals as a #buddyread with funsizedshawti on #storygraph and I loved how easy it was to update it with your thoughts! I remember really loving this mystery and devouring it in a couple of days. A girl who is taught to pick up on human behavior essentially becomes a lie detector for a teen section of the FBI working on profiling. It was essentially Criminal Minds for a younger set, but the crimes were not softened. I had a lot of fun with this and am looking forward to more of the series. This was the 2nd arc I'd had from a Black Author and the 4th arc I'd EVER gotten, I felt so special in that moment. There is just something so amazing not only about reading diversely but the bookish community opening its wings to others. I'd never been a huge proponent for romance and was unsure if I'd even enjoy this, but it ignited this fire for sweet, consuming love, not just for superficial things but the marrow that actually creates you. Everyone thinks love is finding someone to make you whole, but it's when you find someone whole who loves all of you. Since reading this novel, the romance I've consumed has practically tripled. Thank you so much for granting me this amazing opportunity, and I can't wait to see what other books catch my eye. You know what's more dangerous than a book girlie with free time?
