A New Month and a new group of things I would like to accomplish. Who else can’t believe it’s already May? The Lady Solver’s Readathon came and went, and I only managed to read one book I chose for its TBR. Was that the only thing I read? No. However, I think I have established that my “don’t tell me what to do gene” runs so flipping deep that even I, myself, can’t be listened to. Sigh.
I managed to complete three novels, and take a few large bites out of others along the way. The entire reason I do the Lady Solver’s Readathon, is because I’m a lady Solver and I want to pay homage to Nancy Drew by reading mystery novels with women leads. I was so on top of it for the first half of the month but the last two weeks of April have probably been tied with the other weeks for the worst of my life and I just didn’t have the bandwidth for my original plans for this month.
Being rear-ended by someone with no insurance, which left my car that I love essentially undriveable, spending an entire night in the hospital, and catching a cold that has literally taken me out for 10 days left no room for Nancy Drew or anyone else on this list.
The original plan, if you didn’t watch the YouTube video, was The Library After Dark by Ande Pliego, The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, How To Cheat Your Own Death by Kristen Perrin, and three Nancy Case Files: Buried Secrets, Heart of Danger, and Fatal Ransom.

What happened was The Library After Dark by Ande Pliego, Unhinged by Steph Macca, Bodies Of Work by Clay MCleod, 55% of How To Survive A Horror Movie by Scarlett Dunmore, 25% into How To Cheat Your Own Death by Kristen Perrin, 11% of I, Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman, and 5% into Death’s Daughter by S. A. Barnes.

Serious Progress was made not only on books that have been on my TBR for years, but also, into 3 ARCS! My reading goal was 40 this year, I wanted something small that would make it easy to fall into my mood reading antics and I keep proving to myself that i’m not listening. We’re currently 29 out of 40. I have several arcs coming out for May but I’m focusing on the ones I can’t wait to read.
Death’s Daughter by S.A. Barnes, Not Your Final Girl by Mikayla Rudolph, The Library After Dark by Ande Pliego, Ghoul by Kelsey Iris, You’re Dead To Me, Reed Walker by Gwenyth Reitz, A Game of Cat and Witch by Ruby Rune, In Case I Go Missing by R. N. Swann, and How to Make a Love Potion by R. A. Moreau. They’ll just be floating around my head, from May on, I’m reading whatever comes to me, no more to do’s, hopefuls only *nods sagely*.
Bubblegum Detective is Vending for The Crafty Supermarket next weekend at Music Hall, and I’m so excited and nervous for it. This will be my first time at this market, and we have a prime spot, so I’m super optimistic about how this will go. I also signed up for something super secret happening in June, but I won’t know if I got it until later, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

What have you been up too this April? Anything coming up in May you’re excited about it? Tell me all about it below!
Until Next Time,
Gabs
